Make Returns Hassle-free by Setting Automation Rules for Quick Refunds

Shoppers always expect a faster refund after returning an item, and it’s the merchant’s responsibility to keep a close eye on all the shipments and release the order amount asap.

With AfterShip and Returns Center, you can easily address your pain points related to shipment tracking and returns management. Let’s learn how:

👉 Steps to enable the 'Auto-refund' automation rules:

Go to the ‘Automation Rules’ section of your AfterShip Returns Center account > You’ll see three options:

In transit
Marked as received

Turn on the toggle button to initiate the refunds automatically based on the shipment status selected (In transit / Delivered / Marked as received)

By default, 'Marked as received' option would be enabled. You can change the trigger as per your choice.

👉 Two ways to trigger the 'Received' status

For this, please ensure that the AfterShip tracking service is enabled. Also, enable the 'Auto-marked as received' feature.

When the RMA shipping status is auto-marked as "Received,” the refund will be initiated automatically.

Manually Received
In this case, you need to manually click on "Mark as received” on the RMA detail page to trigger the "received" rule for automatic refunds (AfterShip tracking service is not required in this case).

Please note that these automation rules are available only for Premium and Enterprise plan users.

✍️ Key information:

Auto-refund only works when you select the “Refund to original payment method” option in your AfterShip Returns Center account.
The refund amount won't include the shipping fee charged.
